Volunteer Lead

Our volunteers are integral to the successful delivery of Trans Pride Manchester our event wouldn’t be able to run without their support and dedication.

The Volunteer Lead role is a key role throughout the day. The role is responsible for ensuring the management and organisation of up to 100 volunteers at Trans Pride Manchester, liaising with a variety of teams to ensure the right support is on hand at every aspect of the day.

Noone within Trans Pride Manchester gets paid and we all volunteer our time for free.

Key Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Requirements and Coordination:

    • Gain an in-depth understanding of the requirements for volunteer roles across all relevant departments for the festival.

    • Produce a detailed volunteer rota to ensure all roles are sufficiently covered during the day.

  • Volunteer Recruitment and Management:

    • Maintain open communication with volunteers to ensure they are adequately prepared and understand their roles.

    • Collect all volunteer accreditation and ensure all volunteers are wearing the appropriate daily accreditation to access the event locations.

    • Allocate volunteer uniforms (hi-vis) and ensure all volunteers are wearing the correct uniform.

  • Training and Support:

    • Attend and present at Volunteer Meet and Greet and Training Workshops to onboard new volunteers.

    • Ensure that all volunteers are suitably briefed for their roles, including understanding health & safety and safeguarding policies.

  • On-Site Oversight:

    • Manage the volunteer hub chat over the day to provide ongoing support and address any issues that arise.

    • Be on hand to pivot and rethink where necessary.

  • Post-Event Responsibilities:

    • Produce a comprehensive post-event report detailing volunteer activities, successes, and areas for improvement.

    • Attend a debrief meeting to discuss the event outcomes and provide feedback on the volunteer program.

  • Experience in managing large groups of volunteers.

  • Experience in working on large-scale events.

  • A calm and empathetic approach to managing people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication, presentation, and ambassadorial skills.

  • Highly organised with a positive and proactive approach to work.

  • Excellent reporting and analysis skills.

  • A clear understanding of and passion for tackling the issues faced by LGBTQ+ people.
